Hear Our Prayers

Music can transform an ordinary moment into a holy moment.  Music plays an integral role in our worship at Barnert.  There are a variety of blessings we sing and recite at Shabbat services and other holiday celebrations at Barnert.  Regularly joining us is the best way to become familiar with the words and tunes.

There are many ways to participate further through music including:

Blessing Over the Candles

Light the Shabbat candles and then recite the following blessing:
Baruch Atah Adonai,
Eloheinu Melech haolam
Asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav
v'zivanu l'hadlik ner shel Shabbat
 

Blessed are You, Eternal our God, Sovereign of time and space.
You hallow us with Your mitzvot and command us to kindle the lights of Shabbat.
